Teeth Whitening
White teeth give a good, clean feel and youthful appearance that lasts. There are different ways to whiten teeth, which may involve replacing fillings or crowns to match the whiter tooth shade or using tooth whitening treatment.
Those interested in our at home teeth whitening can learn about the process from our friendly team.
A whiter, brighter smile can do wonders for your self-confidence. At our teeth whitening clinic, we specialize in helping patients achieve the smile of their dreams. However, with so many different teeth whitening treatments on the market, it can be tough to know which one is right for you.
What exactly is Teeth Whitening?
A number of factors can cause teeth to become stained or discolored, including smoking, drinking coffee or red wine, and eating certain foods. But regardless of the cause, many people feel self-conscious about their smiles if their teeth are not as white as they would like them to be.
Professional teeth whitening is one way to achieve the bright, white smile you desire. But it can be expensive, and it’s not always convenient to have to schedule an appointment with your dentist. That’s where take-home teeth whitening kits come in. These kits contain everything you need to brighten your smile, including custom-fitted mouth trays and a powerful bleaching gel. The gel is typically a hydrogen peroxide solution that breaks down into oxygen molecules, which then penetrate the enamel and bleach the staining pigment.
Treatment Process
There are a few things to keep in mind when choosing a take-home teeth whitening kit. First, make sure that the kit includes custom-fitted mouth trays. This is important because ill-fitting trays can cause the bleaching gel to leak out and come into contact with your gums, which can be painful and cause irritation. Second, look for a kit that comes with a higher concentration of bleaching gel – typically around 25% or more. Higher concentrations will produce better results, but they can also increase the risk of gum irritation. Finally, make sure that the company you choose offers a money-back guarantee so that you can try the kit risk-free.
During your routine dental appointment we will assess the condition of your teeth and discuss the options for teeth whitening with you. We will explain how the treatment works, and give you an understanding of the improvement you can expect in the shade of your teeth.
Our dentist will use a mould to take impressions of your teeth, this will be used to create your custom trays for whitening.
Apporoximately a week or two after the mould taking process, you can drop into the surgery and collect your custom trays and whitening syringes.
Clean your teeth thoroughly just before bleaching your teeth. The whitening solution is most effective with clean teeth. Make sure that the bleaching trays are clean and dry before applying the whitening gel.
When you apply the gel make sure not to fill the trays. Place a drop of tooth whitening solution on the inner front surface of tray. Do not spread the bleach around the trays.
Insert whitening tray in the mouth over the teeth. Place the tray firmly against the teeth.
We recommend wearing the tray with the whitening solution for at least 2 hours. If sensitivity develops – either wear for only 1 hour or use every other day.
Remove the tray and rinse off your teeth. Brush any remaining gel away. Brush, floss and continue routine dental cleaning.
Clean whitening trays with a toothbrush or earbud and cold water. Store trays in the tray holder and bleaching solution in a cool dry place.
